UV powder coating deliver a new coating option for heat sensitive substrates such as medium density fibreboard (MDF), plastic, and preassembled parts. Another interesting application is massive metal parts that require great amounts of energy because they act as a heat sink during the coating process. In addition, die cast, electroplated and galvanized metal parts that tend to outgas during traditional higher temperature painting processes are ideal candidates for UV curing.
If you make kitchen cabinets, office furniture, dry erase boards, ready-to-assemble furniture or other products out of MDF, then you should consider UV powder. UV powder is also being used to coat fully assembled electric motors and automobile radiators. Are you extruding or forming a part and then painting? If so, you may be able to use the heat from the extrusion/forming process to melt and flow the powder and then cure in a continuous process.
Fusion has been a key player in the development of the first commercial UV powder coating lines and continues to work with powder formulators, resin companies and finishing system integrators to bring you the latest and best UV powder coating process knowledge.
